Nook HD+ 9” Tablet test drive review

nook

I recently tested the new Barnes & Noble Nook HD+ 9” Tablet and  liked it a lot.
Since I have a built-in bias toward paper products, especially books and glossy magazines, there were a few questions I had before testing began.

I like reading a book or magazine held in my hands, highlighters and Post-It notes at the ready. So I had some reservations about an Ereader.

Without the ability to highlight or make notes, the usefulness of any tablet would be nil, other than it would be a handy device for reading while commuting or sitting in an easy chair, as long as the book wasn’t heavily illustrated. Fiction comes to mind.

I was pleasantly surprised
Turns out you can highlight in customizable colors and make notes attached to sections of text you can email to yourself or download using a built-in keyboard.

Pixel-packed, the Nook HD+ 9” Tablet display is great
Its brilliant display provides crisp text, sharp contrast and rich color on a full HD 1920×1280 display that’s very easy on the eyes from every viewing angle, Videos have amazing clarity. Colors and graphics pop. It’s just 18.2 oz and portable, designed to fit naturally in your hand.

I was Disappointed with one thing
The downside of the NOOK HD+ is that it only has a tiny speaker on one side of the unit. But your sound experience can be enhanced with a headphone jack.

And what’s the deal with the hole in the case?
